At my old job as a catering manager this was a typical outfit for me, but now that I work in a setting where flip-flops and jeans are acceptable, I don't do the "business casual" look as often. Today, however, I had a meeting with my boss, so a slightly more professional ensemble seemed more appropriate. Depending on how my meeting went today, I might have another semi-business professional outfit to share next week!

The time between cold and warm weather is a hard one for me as far as outfits go. But the building I work in tends to be a bit chilly, so I'm still erring toward slightly warmer outfits, and comfort is a must as well!

My friend Jessica's bridal shower had a "fancy hat" theme, and after some agonizing and confusion over where to find myself a fancy hat, I wandered into Stein Mart and was greeted by an array of huge floppy hats. I originally had a magenta colored one in my hands, but when I found a belt on the racks that was the same shade of pastel pink as one of the hats, I knew what had to be done.

I had to check over my shoulder any time I wanted to turn my head or change location at the party in order to avoid running into anyone with my oversized headgear, but I'm quite pleased with the end result!

Two looks for Valentine's Day, whether you need just one, or want to go from day to night. A blazer, jeans, and heels are great for a casual lunch or movie date. For a romantic night out, a heart print dress is festive without being childish, and the same accessories that dressed up the blazer also complement the dress!

Well, here it is: A brand-new blog! I decided to retire Elephants & Owls, that project started out as a joint effort between me and my very good friend Jessica, but it felt weird to keep doing it without her -- without the elephant to my owl -- and I was ready for a fresh start.

The subject matter here will be more concentrated than it was on E&O, I'm sticking strictly to style and beauty, no recipes or craft projects or self-indulgent posts full of images from parties or vacations.
